LCA Announces 2nd Annual eCampus.com Bowl
Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) announced today it will be hosting the 2nd Annual eCampus.com Bowl on Friday, September 6 at the White Greer & Maggard Stadium. Bowling Green will square off against Bryan Station at 6:00pm, and LCA will take on Pikeville at 8:30pm.
"We are honored to once again sponsor such a special event that will showcase four of the top football programs in Kentucky," said Matt Montgomery, President and CEO of eCampus.com. "This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together to enjoy a showcase of talent from around the Commonwealth and support our student-athletes as they exhibit their skills, determination, and sportsmanship." LCA Welcomes New Varsity Volleyball Coach
We are pleased to announce that Christin O’Nan has accepted the position of LCA Head Varsity Volleyball Coach! She will officially begin her new role after the dead period on July 10, 2024.
Coach O’Nan has a rich history with volleyball, having grown up playing the sport and continuing her career at Union College. Most recently, she has been coaching at Lexington United Volleyball Club and serving as an assistant coach at Garrard County High School.
During the interview process, she expressed her enthusiasm for this opportunity to mentor young women, sharing her knowledge and experiences to help them grow both in their faith and athletic abilities. She is eager to see what God has in store for the LCA Volleyball program. Please join us in welcoming Coach O’Nan to the LCA community!
LCA Welcomes Cameron Garner as New Assistant Athletics Director

LCA Alum Jansen Preston ('20) Pursuing U.S. Open Golf Tournament
LCA alum Jansen Preston ('20) and current member of the UK Mens Golf Team is pursuing a spot to compete at the U.S. Open. Preston went to Bowling Green a few weeks ago for the first round of U.S. Open qualifying: 106 golfers competing for six spots. He played well, shot 2-under, and was in the top six. On June 3rd, he will play at Springfield Country Club for the final qualifier: 64 golfers competing for just a few spots, and if he gets a spot, he is in the U.S. Open. Read Fox 56 Story Here

LCA Names Kirby Willoughby as New Director of Athletics
Lexington Christian Academy announced on March 28, 2024, the hiring of Kirby Willoughby as the school’s new Director of Athletics. Willoughby is no stranger to LCA. She is a 2006 graduate, serves as the girls volleyball head coach, and has been in the role of assistant athletics director since 2014. While she was a student at LCA, Kirby was a dual sport athlete participating in volleyball and basketball. She continued her volleyball career at Eastern Kentucky University and after graduating, Kirby went on to work at the University of Kentucky before returning to LCA. Read More Here

LCA and the Toyota Bluegrass Miracle League
Coach Keith Galloway, LCA Asst. High School Principal and Athletics Chaplain and LCA sophomore Ava Harrison recently talked to Krista Spadaccini at Fox 56 about LCA's long relationship with Toyota Bluegrass Miracle League. Makenna Hurst, LCA Junior, Selected for 2023 National Athletic Advisory Council
Makenna Hurst, LCA junior, was recently selected to represent the state of Kentucky on the National Athletic Advisory Council. She will collaborate with student-athletes from around the country to develop and improve the student athlete experience. Read the full press release here.

LCA Football Team Helps Breathitt County Football Team in Flood Aftermath
After the LCA Football team saw the aftermath of flooding waters at the Breathitt County Football stadium and school, they jumped into action. They brought their entire locker room back to Lexington and worked to restore everything that was damaged. See the story here.

Caleb Scalf Competes at State Archery Tournament
Congrats to LCA 8th grader, Caleb Scalf, on qualifying for and participating at the KHSAA State Archery Tournament in Bowling Green last week. He placed 27th out of 266 high school boys. Way to go Caleb!
Spencer Pruden Gets 600th Career Save
Congrats to LCA Lacrosse senior, Spencer Pruden, on having 600 career saves! Spencer reached the milestone during the April 20th matchup between LCA and Tates Creek, which LCA won 15-2.

2020 Baseball Players Recognized

LCA Girls Cross Country Team Honored in Frankfort
Members of the LCA Girls Cross Country Team were guests of Senator Alice Forgy Kerr and were recognized by the Kentucky State Senate on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 for winning the school's first KHSAA Class A Girls Cross Country State Championship. LCA Swim Team Competes at Regional Meet
Under the new leadership of Coach Amy Cranfill, the LCA Swimming team has experienced a great season with swimmers posting dozens of personal records. They competed at the KHSAA Swim Regionals two weeks ago, where they posted another 28 personal records. Lamont Brown Named Speed & Agility Coach
LCA Athletics is excited to announce an expansion of its Strength & Conditioning Program by naming Lamont Brown as Speed & Agility Coach. All of LCA's programs will now be able to benefit from his expertise.
LCA Archery Hosts Annual Eagle Classic
The LCA Archery Team held its annual Eagle Classic Archery Tournament on January 28-29, 2022. This year's registration included 948 students and 39 schools. The winter weather led to some cancellations, but there were still 637 students who participated. Congratulations to Caleb Scalf who placed 2nd in Middle School Boys with a score of 285.
Claire Roberts Named to All "A" Region Team
Congratulations to LCA freshman, Claire Roberts on being named to the 11th Region All "A" Classic All Tournament Team.
Hammond Wins Russ Thompson Scholarship
Senior football player Elijah Hammond was named the recipient of the first-ever Russ Thompson Memorial Scholarship last month.
Russ Thompson, an LCA parent, passed away last summer, and his colleagues at Keller Williams committed to sponsoring this annual scholarship because of the love Russ had for the LCA football program.
Hammond was announced as the winner during the December 14th boys basketball game and was joined on the court by Shannon Durrum of Keller Williams and Russ' widow, April and his son, LCA senior Evan Thompson.
LCA Senior, Xavier Brown, Named Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year
In its 37th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, Gatorade announced that LCA senior, Xavier Brown is the 2021-22 Gatorade Kentucky Football Player of the Year. Brown is the first Gatorade Kentucky Football Player of the Year to be chosen from Lexington Christian Academy. Read more here.
LCA Football Team in KHSAA 2A State Championship
The LCA Football Team put together a furious 21 point comeback in the KHSAA Class 2A State Championship but still fell short to Beechwood on Friday, December 3 at Kroger Field. The Eagles finished the season 14-1, and we are so proud of all they accomplished this season. LCA Cross Country Teams Compete at Regional Meet
Congratulations to the LCA Girls Cross Country Team on winning their 8th consecutive Region 5A Title! Lillian Samford (junior) placed 3rd and was named 1st Team All-Region. Annie Sewell (8th grade) placed 7th and was named 1st Team All-Region. Annalise Randles (8th grade) placed 9th and was named 2nd Team All-Region. Lily Frost (freshman) placed 13th and was named 2nd Team All-Region. Emma Clare Doepke (sophomore) placed 16th and was named 2nd Team All-Region. Juniors Hannah Seamands and Lilianne Hutchinson also qualified for the state meet.
The LCA Boys Cross Country Team placed 7th overall. Shaun Ware (freshman) earned an individual invite to KHSAA State Cross Country Meet with his 13th place finish which also garnered him 2nd Team All-Region Honors. Also, Sophomore Noah Davis ran his personal best time.

Soccer Players Named to All-Region Team
Congrats to LCA Girls Soccer players, Marin Wills and Caroline Hensley, on earning All-Region recognition. Marin was named to the Second Team, and Caroline received Honorable Mention.
LCA Golfers Qualify for State Tournament
Congratulations to the Boy and Girls Golf Teams who finished as runners-up in their regional tournaments last week! Best of luck to those who will be competing at the KHSAA State Golf Championship this week. Mary Keene Marrs, C.A. Carter, Carter Lankford, and Maryssa Phillips will be playing on Tuesday and Wednesday in Bowling Green. The boys also have three golfers, Grey Goff, Luke Barrett, and McKean Collins, participating in the state tournament on Friday and Saturday. Grey Goff was the region medalist champion and Mary Keen Marrs was the region runner-up in individual scoring.
Update: At the 2021 KHSAA Girls State Golf Championship, C.A. Carter placed 11th; Mary Keene Marrs placed 13th; Maryssa Phillips placed 33rd; and Carter Lankford placed 54th out of 140 golfers!
At the 2021 KHSAA Boys State Golf Championship, McKean Collins placed 15th; Luke Barrett placed 34th; and Grey Goff placed 45th.
Mary Keene Marrs was named to the 2021 First Team All State, and Grey Goff was named to the 2021 Second Team All State.
LCA Volleyball Team Hosts DIG PINK Event
The LCA Volleyball Team recently hosted a DIG PINK event to support breast cancer awareness. A total of $826 was raised from the event and donated to Kentucky Cancer Link.

2021 LCA Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees Announced
The 2021 LCA Athletic Hall of Fame has announced it's newest inductees - Eric Geldhof and Keith Galloway! Geldhof is the current LCA Boys Golf Head Coach, and Galloway is a former LCA Baseball Head Coach and current High School Assistant Princiapl and Athletics Chaplain. This is a well deserved honor for two great coaches and even better people. They will be honored at the October 22 LCA football game.

Eric Geldhof to Join KGCA Coaches Hall of Fame
Congratulations to LCA Boys Golf Coach, Eric Geldhof, on being named to the 2021 class of the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the conclusion of the KGCA All State Championships, held at the University of Kentucky Club in Lexington.
Geldhof has been the head coach for the LCA Boys golf team for 20 years and during his time, his teams have won three state championships, been runner-up once, and placed in the top 5 three other occasions. The school has also won 7 regional championships and 9 All "A" State Championships during his tenure. He has hosted the Kentucky Cup Invitational for 15 years, has served as a KHSAA Regional manager and is member of the First Tee Advisory Board and is a board member of the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association.
Jake Faulkner Announced as Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach

LCA Lacrosse Team Celebrates Senior Night
Despite a drizzly, rainy night, last Wednesday, April 28, the LCA Lacrosse team was able to celebrate its six seniors: Max Wheeler, Jacob Dixon, Matthew Donnelly, Jordan Moseley, Andy Sorrell, and Tommy White (who unfortunately had to miss due to illness). LCA Athletics Holds Signing Ceremony for Student-Athletes
On Friday, April 30, 2021 LCA Athletics held a signing ceremony to celebrate the nine student-athletes who have signed so far to play collegiate athletics next year. LCA Softball and Baseball Teams Win All "A" Region Championships
Congratulations to the LCA Softball and Baseball Teams on winning their respective All "A" Region Tournaments!
The LCA Softball Team defeated Frankfort on Monday night, April 12, to win the championship - their fifth in a row! They will now go on to the Kentucky All "A" State Softball Classic in Owensboro, which will be held April 24 & 25.
The LCA Baseball Team defeated Frankfort on Saturday, April 10, and then defeated Danville on Friday, April 16 in a sectional game. That win earned them a trip to the Kentucky All "A" State Baseball Classic in Owensboro, which will also be held April 24 & 25.

Connor Hayes Competes at KTCCCA State Championship
Congrats to LCA senior, Connor Hayes, on winning the 2021 KTCCCA Men’s Class A 1500 Meter Run State Championship with a KY #2 and US #5 time of 4:01.50! After graduation, Connor will continue his running career at the University of Kentucky.
LCA Archery Team Competes at State Meet
LCA Archery had a great showing at the Kentucky NASP (National Archery in School Program) State Tournament in Louisville on Saturday, March 13, 2021. Elementary, Middle School and High School all made it to the state tournament together for the first time in school history!
LCA Dance Team Participates in First Competition of the Season
The LCA Dance team participated in its first competition of the season at the Cheer Elite Invitational in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on March 6. The team won the following awards: 1st Place-Hip Hop; 1st Place-Pom; and 1st Place-Time Out Route. They also had the highest score of the competition earning them the Ultimate Champion Award with a paid bid to nationals.

LCA Athletics Launches "United in Christ" Program
Friday is Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday, which we will celebrate Monday in honor of his vision of unity and equality in this country. In December LCA Athletics launched a program for our student-athletes entitled “United in Christ” for one purpose – to focus us on the Great Unifier – Jesus Christ.
Psalms 133:1 says, “How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!”
This program will include videos, events and other initiatives to constantly remind us that, as Christ-followers, we are called to be one. Our video series has begun, and you can access the first couple here.
Coach Doug Charles Named 2A Coach of the Year
Congratulations to Coach Doug Charles, who was named the 2A Coach of the Year by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association. Coach Charles has guided the Eagles to a 10-1 season and to a berth in the Class 2A KHSAA State Finals on Friday, December 18, 2020.
KTCCCA Area 6 Announces Award Winners
The KTCCCA Area 6 recently recognized these award winners: Anna Rupp (1st Team), Connor Hayes (1st Team); Tia Alchureiqi (Honorable Mention); Tom Stickel (Coach of the Year); Annie Sewell (Junior High - Honorable Mention); and Anna Dawahare (6th Grade and Under Runner of the Year).
LCA Football Team Wins KHSAA State Quarterfinal
The LCA Football team added another win by defeating Metcalfe County 43-13 in the Class 2A 2020 UK Orthopaedics/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl state quarterfinal matchup. LCA will next play Murray on Friday, December 10 in the state semi-finals with the winner playing for a state championship at Kroger Field on December 18.
Coach Doug Charles Named Coach of the Year
Congratulations to Coach Doug Charles, who was named Coach of the Year in Class 2A District 4 by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association. Charles has guided LCA to the Class 2A state quarterfinals. The Eagles (8-1) are also ranked No. 1 in the Class 2A state poll. LCA has knocked off defending Class 2A state champion Somerset twice this season and also owns wins against DeSales, Lexington Catholic, Pikeville and Paul Laurence Dunbar.
LCA Football Team Claims District Title
Congratulations to the LCA Football team on defeating Somerset 42-35 in the Class 2A 2020 UK Orthopaedics/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl district final on Friday, November 27, 2020. LCA will next play Metcalfe County on Friday, December 4 as they continue to try to capture a state title!
Anna Dawahare Competes at National Meet

LCA Cross Country Teams Compete at State
The LCA Cross Country Teams ended their 2020 season by competing at the State Cross Country Meet on October 31. Senior, Connor Hayes, finished 3rd overall in the 1A Boys Individual. The girls team finished 4th overall, and individually, Tia Alchureiqui placed 14th.
LCA Girls Cross Country Team Wins 7th Straight Region Title
Congrats to the LCA Girls Cross Country Team on winning their 7th straight Class 1A Region Championship at Mason County on Saturday! Also congrats to senior, Connor Hayes, and junior, Anna Rupp, on winning individual titles for three years in a row.
LCA Girls Golf Team Wins 9th Region Tourney
