LCA Alum Alyssa Albornoz ('22) Returns From 2024 Paris Olympics Experience
LCA alum Alyssa Albornoz ('22), currently a communications student at Asbury University, has recently returned from an unforgettable experience at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Alyssa was one of over 100 students from the Asbury University Communications Department who had the unique opportunity to work at the prestigious global event. While there, she was tasked with assisting a camera operator at the golf venue. Read More Here
LCA Girls Track Team Takes 3rd Place Finish at State

Alumni Spotlight - Evan Byers
LCA alum Evan Byers (’20) recently graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Animal Sciences and finished with a 4.0 GPA. Evan is a redshirt junior left-handed pitcher on the UK Baseball team, and the team just finished as regular season co-SEC Champions along with Tennessee. Read More Here
LCA Alum, Evan Davis, Named to the OVC's 75th Anniversary Men's Golf Team
Former Belmont University men's golfer and LCA alum, Evan Davis ('17) was named to the Ohio Valley Conference 75th Anniversary Men's Golf Team, the league office announced. Davis, who lettered for the Bruins from 2017-2022, was one of the top golfers in Belmont history. He was a two-time NCAA Regional Participant, a two-time OVC Golfer of the Year, and won the league's individual title in 2021. In addition, he was a three time All-OVC performer, earned four individual titles, posted the lowest scoring average in school history (70.2 in 2020-21), and ranks second in the Division I era in scoring average (71.9), top-10s (23), and top-20s (30).
While at LCA, Evan was ranked sixth in Kentucky for the 2017 class and was named All-Region after his junior and senior years. He helped LCA to the KHSAA 2015 State Championship and also won the 2016 Kentucky PGA Junior Tour Championship. Read More Here
LCA Alum, Laney Frye, Punches Ticket to 2023 U.S. Women's Amateur
For the third straight summer, UK Women's Golfer and LCA Alum, Laney Frye ('20) has punched her ticket to the U.S. Women’s Amateur. The Wildcat tied for first place at a qualifier at the Chagrin Vallen Country Club in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, on Thursday after recording a 4-under-par 68 to share medalist honors with Wake Forest’s Brooke Rivers. Alumni Spotlight - Matt Vogel
Matt Vogel attended LCA for six years and graduated in 2003. He went on to play soccer at the University of Kentucky for two years and then played at Transylvania for the remainder of his eligibility. He was named to two All-America teams while playing soccer at Transylvania and was the school's 2008 Male Athlete of the Year. Read More Here

Congrats to LCA alum Andre Green ('19) on his recent graduation Cum Laude from Central State University! Andre earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Andre accepted a position with the Department of Juvenile Justice in Frankfort, Kentucky, and was accepted into graduate school at the University of Louisville. Read More Here
LCA Alum John Greer Named Men's Soccer Associate Head Coach at Asbury University
Congratulations to LCA alum John Greer ('06) on being named the Men's Soccer Associate Head Coach at Asbury University. After graduation, he attended Asbury University for four years graduating in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in physical education and health education. He was also a four-year starter, senior captain, and All-NCCAA (National Christian College Athletics Association) Mid-East Region player for the Eagles. Greer competed in three straight Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, winning two out of three. Read More Here
LCA Alum Laney Frye ('20) to Play in Augusta National Women's Amateur
Congratulations to University of Kentucky Women's Golf and LCA alum Laney Frye ('20), along with her teammate Jensen Castle, on being invited to play in the 2023 Augusta National Women's Amateur, which will be held in Augusta, Georgia, March 29 - April 1. Alumni Spotlight - Mary Beth Steger (Class of 2015)
Mary Beth Steger attended LCA for 12 years and graduated in 2015. After high school, she attended the University of Kentucky, where she majored in Family and Consumer Sciences with a minor in Community Leadership Development. She currently works at Danville High School under the leadership of the Family Resource Coordinator as a Transitional Success Coordinator. Mary Beth, who was an LCA cheerleader, also started this year coaching the LCA Little Eagles Cheerleaders. Read More Here
Coach Doug Charles Named 2A Coach of the Year
Congratulations to Coach Doug Charles, who was named the 2A Coach of the Year by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association. Coach Charles has guided the Eagles to a 10-1 season and to a berth in the Class 2A KHSAA State Finals on Friday, December 18, 2020.
KTCCCA Area 6 Announces Award Winners
The KTCCCA Area 6 recently recognized these award winners: Anna Rupp (1st Team), Connor Hayes (1st Team); Tia Alchureiqi (Honorable Mention); Tom Stickel (Coach of the Year); Annie Sewell (Junior High - Honorable Mention); and Anna Dawahare (6th Grade and Under Runner of the Year).
LCA Football Team Wins KHSAA State Quarterfinal
The LCA Football team added another win by defeating Metcalfe County 43-13 in the Class 2A 2020 UK Orthopaedics/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl state quarterfinal matchup. LCA will next play Murray on Friday, December 10 in the state semi-finals with the winner playing for a state championship at Kroger Field on December 18.
Coach Doug Charles Named Coach of the Year
Congratulations to Coach Doug Charles, who was named Coach of the Year in Class 2A District 4 by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association. Charles has guided LCA to the Class 2A state quarterfinals. The Eagles (8-1) are also ranked No. 1 in the Class 2A state poll. LCA has knocked off defending Class 2A state champion Somerset twice this season and also owns wins against DeSales, Lexington Catholic, Pikeville and Paul Laurence Dunbar.
LCA Football Team Claims District Title
Congratulations to the LCA Football team on defeating Somerset 42-35 in the Class 2A 2020 UK Orthopaedics/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl district final on Friday, November 27, 2020. LCA will next play Metcalfe County on Friday, December 4 as they continue to try to capture a state title!
Saxton Howard Named Player of the Year

Alumni Spotlight - Kyle Rode (Class of 2019)
Kyle Rode attended LCA from 6th-12th grades and graduated in 2019. He is currently a freshman at Liberty University, where he plays basketball. Liberty won the ASUN Championship this year and was set to make its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance before the tournament was canceled due to COVID-19.
