Alumni Spotlight - Kyle Rode (Class of 2019)

LCA celebrated it's third straight District
Championship in 2019.

Kyle Rode attended LCA from 6th-12th grades and graduated in 2019. While at LCA, Kyle helped lead the LCA Basketball Team to three straight 43rd District Championships (2017, 2018 and 2019) and one All-A State Championship in 2018. He is also the all-time scoring leader at LCA and in the city of Lexington.

Kyle is currently a freshman at Liberty University, where he plays basketball. Liberty won the ASUN Championship this year and was set to make its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance before the tournament was canceled due to COVID-19. Learn below how LCA prepared Kyle for college and how he has dealt with the disappointment of his first college basketball season ending early.

What do you love most about LCA? I loved the family atmosphere of the school and the ability to get an education that not only prepared me for college but also life in general.

What is one of your favorite memories from your time at LCA? Winning the All-A State Basketball Championship my junior year.

From your own experiences, why do you believe it was important for you to attend LCA? LCA impacted my life academically, spiritually, and athletically and that is something not many schools can offer.

What have you enjoyed most about college so far? The expanded freedom to use my time in different ways.

Celebrating Liberty's ASUN Conference
Championship.

We know that Liberty was supposed to play in the NCAA Tourney. How have you dealt with the disappointment of the NCAA Tournament being canceled this year? It has always been a dream of mine to play in the NCAA tournament, and I know our team would have done special things if the tournament had been played. However, I know, and our team understood that God is in control of all things even when we don’t understand. Having that thought process and knowing that everyone’s health is more important than basketball has helped ease the disappointment I initially had.
