Alumni Spotlight - Travis Branham (Class of 2012)

Travis Branham attended LCA for 14 years and graduated in 2012. He went on to attend the University of Kentucky where he graduated with a degree in kinesiology. He is currently a national basketball recruiting analyst at 247 Sports.

When thinking about your time at LCA, finish this sentence, "This is where...": I was consistently challenged and seeds were planted that would set me up both spiritually and academically.

What did you love most about your time at LCA? The lifelong friends that I made and the incredible teachers and coaches that poured into me and made a significant impact on who I was, currently am and am striving to be.

Tell us about one of your favorite memories at LCA: Hard to dwindle it down to one specific memory but two things come to mind ... my entire senior year was an incredible memory in itself. Also, just being in Mrs. Baker's classes throughout my four years was something I look back on very fondly and the impacts she made on me.

From your own experiences, why do you believe it was important for you to attend LCA? I was always being challenged both spiritually and academically. At the same time, I always had teachers and staff pouring into me and believing in me every step of the way. I didn't realize it then how much those years molded me, but I certainly do now and am incredibly grateful for it.

In what ways did LCA prepare you for college and beyond? Upon entering college it was immediately evident just how much LCA prepared me academically. I can vividly remember being in college classes being taught things that I learned as a sophomore in high school. Even more than just that, it helped shape me to know where to go when times got tough. You're going to be challenged academically, spiritually and socially. Because of the things I learned and was exposed to at LCA, the more I knew how to respond to those challenges.  When going through those challenges, my faith became my own.

What would you tell a friend to encourage them to send their child(ren) to LCA? LCA truly is an awesome place filled with some of the best people I have ever met, both as classmates and faculty. You're going to be challenged in a lot of ways, and you're going to be better for it. One specific thing I think sets LCA apart is the fact that you it's a tight-knit community, where you build relationships with your classmates and the teachers throughout your entire time there. The impact that is made because of that will last a lifetime.
