Luke Shannon, an LCA 4th grader, was recently recognized as a recipient of a White Greer & Maggard Orthodontics Scholarship. Recipients are honored for exemplary behavior and outstanding achievements in the following areas:

  • Kindness to others
  • Good citizenship
  • Responsibility
  • Thoughtfulness
  • Service to school and community
  • Academic dedication to improve performance

Luke has attended LCA since TK. He demonstrates kindness and godly character in his peer relationships through genuine concern for others by his actions and encouraging words. If he sees someone that needs help, he will offer to assist. It may be something as simple as holding the door for another, gathering equipment/supplies and putting them away, or checking on a classmate or friend who is upset. In addition, he often asks for prayer or gives praise for friends or family that are or have been in need.

Luke has grown in the area of responsibility and dedication to academics this year. His desire to do his best is proven in the quality of his work. He is motivated to learn and exhibits a real desire to grow spiritually. He enjoys being challenged and does not easily give up, but presses on without getting discouraged. He seeks clarification to gain a better understanding and when needed enjoys helping other classmates. If a class discussion leads to an unknown answer, his curiosity is piqued, and he’s determined to research and find the answer. In addition to his academics, he serves and participates in church activities (Sacred Souls service project), extracurricular sports, and enjoys traveling with his family.

Luke truly lives out Philippians 2:4 “Do not look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others too.”

Congratulations to this year’s White, Greer, and Maggard Orthodontics Scholarship recipient, Luke Shannon.
