LCA Welcomes Three New Board Members

Lexington, Kentucky (August 5, 2025) - Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors: Lisa Deaton Mahan, Trisha Layow, and Trent Waltz. Each of these individuals brings a depth of professional expertise, a heart for service, and a strong commitment to LCA’s mission of providing a Christ-centered education that equips students for a life of leadership and service.

Lisa Deaton Mahan is Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for Commerce Lexington, where she leads investor and membership development initiatives that support economic growth in the Lexington region. Prior to joining Commerce Lexington in 2023, she spent more than two decades in philanthropic leadership, including serving at UK HealthCare where she directed major giving efforts and launched initiatives such as the grateful patient and families program.

A Lexington native and University of Kentucky graduate, Lisa has dedicated her career to service, leadership, and community impact. She and her husband, John Mahan, are the parents of three sons: Lane Mahan (LCA ’24), Nicholas Greer (LCA 10th grade), and Carter Greer (LCA 6th grade). The Mahan family has been part of the LCA community since 2013 and are members of Southland Christian Church.

 


Trisha Layow currently serves as Chief Financial Officer of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), where she oversees the organization’s financial strategy and operations. Since joining ABFM in 2007, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to financial stewardship, serving as Controller for 15 years before her appointment as CFO in 2022.

A Certified Public Accountant, Trisha holds both a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance and a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Kentucky. She also serves on the finance committee of her local church and is an advisory board member for a local bank. Trisha is married to Matt and they are proud parents of three children at Lexington Christian Academy, Cole (LCA 9th grade), Savannah (LCA 7th grade), and Scarlett (LCA 7th grade).

 

 


Trent Waltz is Vice President of Strategic Account Operations at EmployBridge, the nation’s largest light industrial staffing provider. With oversight of operational strategy for major clients in the manufacturing, logistics, and distribution industries, he brings valuable business and leadership experience to the board.

In addition to his professional role, he is an active and engaged member of the LCA community, coaching multiple sports and supporting various extracurricular programs. Trent and his wife, Maegan, are the proud parents of four children: Collins (LCA 9th grade), twins Amelia and Andrew (LCA 7th grade), and their adopted daughter, Hannah.

 

 

 

 

Lexington Christian Academy is honored to welcome these outstanding individuals to its Board of Directors. Their leadership and shared passion for Christian education will be a valuable asset to LCA’s continued growth and success. They will join Brett Setzer (Chair), Mandy Ebel (Vice Chair), Ashley Gish, Sid Lisanby, Jason Gabbard, Lee Howard, David Samford, Henry Thomas, and Allan Watts.

The new Board members began their three-year term on August 1 and may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms.
