LCA Teacher Spotlight - Kathy Burroughs

Mrs. Burroughs colors with a student
on the first day of school.

Mrs.  Kathy Burroughs joined LCA in August 2011 and currently teaches PK 4 (preschool). She is married to Mark Burroughs, who teaches 7th grade geography at LCA. Kathy has two daughters, Morgan Hubbard (LCA Class of 2018) who is a sophomore at Transylvania University and Lindsey Hubbard a senior at LCA. Kathy loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking, camping, fishing and kayaking. She also loves to play tennis and go to the beach when she can.

Why do you love LCA? What I love about LCA is that I can worship God freely and pour the love of Jesus into my children at school. I love the people I work with, and we have the BEST administration and teachers who pour their hearts into our school every day. I also love getting to know the families at LCA and having a partnership with them, so I know how to better serve them.

Why do you choose to work at LCA? I absolutely LOVE what I do, and I LOVE coming to work every day! LCA is a tremendous atmosphere where the children can learn about Jesus Christ as well as the academics - our curriculum encompasses a variety of subjects each incorporating S.T.E.A.M. into each day while allowing the children to explore God's world with hands-on manipulatives and teamwork, thus preparing them for each transition (grade-wise) they make in school.

What do students get at LCA that they won't get somewhere else? Students at LCA get a well-rounded Biblically integrated academic experience that is provided with strong teachers that genuinely care about each student and their progress. In addition, these teachers bring their students to come to know and love the Lord!

What sets LCA students apart from other students? LCA students have big hearts and a compassion to serve the Lord - whether it be inside the classroom as well as in parts of Lexington.

How does LCA prepare students for success in college and beyond? LCA adheres to a Biblically integrated curriculum that challenges students of all ages from PS-12 with the academics and critical thinking. LCA helps students to become independent and responsible to be able to manage the next level of education - college and beyond.

How is faith and learning integrated at LCA? The teachers at LCA are secure in their Christian faith and are able to create a sound academic atmosphere that puts God first both inside and outside of the classroom.

closed for COVID-19.

What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students? First and foremost, I LOVE what I do! It is not just a job for me, but a passion. I truly love teaching my small children everything I can about God and the magnificent world He created. One of my favorite interests in the classroom is S.T.E.A.M......in particular, science! I love to ask lots of questions that get their brains thinking and wondering. I also love to teach using the arts and music. Geography (yes, even for 4 year olds) is another fun subject as we look at our globe and learn about ALL the wonderful things and places that God gave us! I truly love "my kiddos" as my own and love to teach them Bible stories.
