Congratulations to Harper Collins, LCA 4th grader, who was this year's recipient of the White, Greer and Maggard Orthodontics Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship (tuition credit for next school year) is awarded to a student who exhibits exemplary behavior and outstanding achievement in the following areas:

  • Kindness to Others
  • Good Citizenship
  • Responsibility
  • Thoughtfulness
  • Service to School and Community
  • Academic Dedication to Improve Performance

Harper has attended Lexington Christian Academy since kindergarten. She is a delightful student who interacts with her teachers and peers with kindness, respect, and clever wit. Throughout the school year, her teacher, Ms. Shannon Sloan, has observed her efforts to seek and follow God’s will in all that she does. “She speaks truth, shows gratitude, stands firm in her faith, and sets her mind with intention and purity of heart. Her joyful spirit uplifts those around her and her confidence in the Lord brings peace to our class. I appreciate her consistent efforts to encourage an environment where everyone feels comfortable, cared about, and ready to learn in our classroom, ” said Sloan.

Harper is dedicated to her schoolwork, having maintained excellent grades and consistently participated in class with purpose and enthusiasm. She has earned Reading Counts points for her interest in mysteries and graphic novels. She was awarded the Neat Handwriting certificate for consistently completing her work in a neat, thoughtful, and timely manner. She participates in the student ambassador program which gives her the opportunity to serve within the school as well as at the Morning Pointe Retirement Home. As a member of the elementary choir, she enthusiastically participates in practices and performances. She plays for the LCA Middle School Basketball team, leads as captain of her golf team with the Junior PGA, plays soccer with I Am Third, and takes horseback riding lessons at Three Crowns Horse Farm. She makes an ambitious effort to do her best at all she does and to honor the Lord with her time and talents.

She is an LCA ROCKstar, committed to meeting school and classroom expectations with faithfulness and reliability. She is always generous with her help in the classroom and beyond, with a keen kindness radar that enables her to be ready and available at any time. Ms. Soan said she especially appreciates her efforts to be aware of the needs of those around her that more often need extra support. She is regarded as an intelligent, kind, thoughtful friend who uplifts those around her with her smile, authenticity, and Christ-like attitude.

Harper truly exemplifies 1 Timothy 4:12 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.”

Congratulations to Harper and the other students who were nominated: Ryan Clark, Hayden Trowbridge, SJ Gibson, Barrett Sword, Cooper Collier, Spencer McCallie, and Ellie Collier.

Thank you to White, Greer & Maggard Orthodontics for their continued support of Lexington Christian Academy.
