Alumni Spotlight - Thomas Stout
LCA alum Thomas Stout graduated in 2017 and enrolled at the University of Kentucky that same year. After his first year at UK, Stout made the decision to follow in his family's footsteps, and he joined the Kentucky Army National Guard. He enlisted in basic training and continued working toward his degree at UK with support from the Guard.
In 2021, he was contracted as a cadet through UK's ROTC program. He graduated in 2022 as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. In 2023, the Kentucky National Guard enrolled Stout into flight school to become a Black Hawk pilot. He graduated from flight school in October 2024 and is currently a Black Hawk pilot for the Kentucky Army National Guard.
Stout credits his success to the mentors, coaches and friends he made while at LCA. Being surrounded by those who held him accountable shaped his character, rooted him in faith, and set him up for life. He encourages others to focus on prayer in order to stay grounded.
What is one of your favorite memories while at LCA? My favorite memory from LCA is playing baseball and beating Lexington Catholic in the District Tournament.
Why do you think it was important for you to attend LCA? I think it was important for me to attend LCA because it set me up in life to have friends and mentors that I'm able to call and get together with, even to this day.
How did LCA prepare you for life beyond high school? The main thing LCA set me up with was building up my faith. I had mentors and friends around me who kept me accountable, and they still do today.
LCA is where … I met my closest friends and mentors. The friends I have today are the same ones I had when I was at LCA. I think that speaks to how LCA taught me that it was important to surround yourself with men who are grounded in their faith and also men of good character.

What have you been up to? Any news you'd like to share with us? We're always looking for life updates from our alumni.
