We're happy to introduce our new faculty and staff members for the upcoming school year. You'll also recognize some familiar faces taking on new roles this year.

Michael Bailey - 5th Grade Teacher

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky

Previous Employment/Years of Experience: Taught 3rd grade and 5th grade for a combined eight years at Fayette County Public Schools.

Hobbies: Hiking, sports, chess, board games, and drawing

Family: Lynsay (wife) and daughter Aaliyah (6 years old and currently attends Lexington Latin School)

Taylor Bailey - 5th Grade Teacher

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern Kentucky University and a Master's in Elementary Education from the University of the Cumberlands

Years of Experience: 6 years

Previous Employment: Lexington Christian Academy in 2022-23. Excited to be teaching the same group of kids this year!

Hobbies: Golf and being a mom of three!

Fun Fact: I have three red-headed children.

Family: Kyle (husband) and sons Boone (5 years and attending LCA TK), Madden (2 years), and Shepherd (7 months)

Zach Bradshaw - Athletic Facilities Technician

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business and a Minor in Sports Management from Asbury University

Previous Employment: Wildcat Van Lines (worked as a relocation specialist that assisted in moving families across the country)

Hobbies: Playing with my dog Bo and attending athletic events

Fun Facts: I assist in coaching the LCA Junior High and Varsity Girls Basketball teams. My favorite foods are chicken and macaroni.

Church: Ashland Avenue Baptist Church

"I'm excited to work with Christ-centered individuals and be able to assist in LCA having top athletic facilities for its athletes."


Frank Carothers - High School Science Teacher

Education: Bachelor's of Science from the U.S. Naval Academy; MBA from Murray State University; and a Ph.D. in Education from Mississippi State University

Years of Experience: More than 30 years and five plus years as a Navy Training Officer

Previous Employment: Taught sailing and seamanship at the U.S. Naval Academy. Has taught at Huttonsville State Correctional Facility, and several public and private colleges, and universities. Also taught high school physics and general science at Naval Facility Adak, Alaska (DOD school).

Hobbies: I am a state licensed auctioneer, and I enjoy conducting fund-raising and charity auctions. I also enjoy playing basketball with my teenage son.

Fun Facts: I grew up on a small farm in Western Kentucky. One of my chores was to feed and water the hogs. The hogs often dumped out their water (purposely)...to cool off and to create mudholes (wallows) to lay in and stay cool. This was a never-ending frustrating cycle...This experience inspired me to enroll and stay in college...eventually motivating me to earn a Ph.D. and an Ed.D. (ABD).

"The faculty and staff at LCA are all wonderful. One of the first things I was asked to do (at my interview) was to lead the selection committee in prayer. I prayed that God would help me during my interview. A few days later, I was hired. I am VERY excited (and thankful) to be teaching at LCA."


Kerry Cayse - Elementary Art Teacher

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in K-12 Art Education from the University of Kentucky

Years of Experience: 12 years

Previous Employment: Spent 10 years as the LCA Junior High Art teacher (2009-2019), then five years at home with my two kids, plus the last 2 years as a part-time preschool teacher at Crossroads Weekday Preschool

Hobbies: Crafting, traveling, and hiking

Family: Daniel (husband) and two daughters who will be in preschool and 3rd grade at LCA  

“I’m so excited to get back into teaching art full-time at the school where I first taught. It feels like coming home!”


Jessica Clarke - elementary media center specialist

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky and a Master's Degree in Reading and Writing Literacy from the University of the Cumberlands

Years of Experience: 12 years

Previous Employment: Lexington Christian Academy (TK teacher in 2011-2012 and 2nd grade from 2012-2024)

Hobbies: I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and recently have been having fun TRYING to learn how to play tennis without hitting the ball in another court.

Fun Facts: I attended LCA from 1st-12th grades. It was a dream of mine, because of my second grade teacher at LCA, to return and teach 2nd grade at LCA. It has been really sweet to see how the Lord had that woven into my story, and now I am beyond thrilled to see the Lord's plan unfold as I have the opportunity to work with all the elementary students in library!

Christian Clour - High School Math Teacher 

Education: Partial BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; BA in Youth Ministry from Southern Wesleyan University; MA in Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary; and MA in Teaching Secondary Math from the University of the Cumberlands

Years of Experience/Previous Employment: 4 years at Trinity Christian Academy (Engineering teacher and FIRST robotics coach)

Hobbies: Disc golf, ultimate Frisbee, and gardening

Fun Facts: I have no sense of smell (from birth, congenital anosmia). I was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in New Jersey but met my wife at Asbury Seminary in Wilmore.

Family: Allison (wife) and twin sons William and Samuel, born in October 2023

Lisa Collins - Digital Marketing & Communications Manager

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Government from Morehead State University

Previous Employment: University of Kentucky Office of Work-Life (five years as a Marketing Communications Specialist); Lexington Christian Academy (six years as the Communications Specialist before being named the Digital Marketing & Communications Manager)

Hobbies: Hiking, traveling with my family, and watching sports (especially college baseball and football)

Fun Fact: My favorite TV show is “Andy Griffith," and I watch it almost every day!

Family: Eric (husband) and son Hayden (LCA alum - Class of 2022)

Hannah Douglas - Junior High Fine Arts Teacher

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Music, Music Education from the University of Kentucky

Years of Experience: This will be my first year!

Previous Employment: I was a student teacher at LCA with Daniel Wesley in spring 2024!

Hobbies: Singing, baking, and traveling

Fun Facts: Last year, I traveled with the University of Kentucky Women's Choir to Italy and Greece and sang at The Vatican! I'm originally from Tallahassee, Florida... but my family has roots in Kentucky and has always cheered for the Wildcats!

Camryn Eggleston - 1st Grade Teacher

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of the Cumberlands

Years of Experience: This is my first year! 

Previous Employment: I did my student teaching at Whitley Central Intermediate School in 3rd and 4th grade classrooms. 

Hobbies: Hanging out with friends, playing pickleball, and attending Bible studies

“I am excited to work at Lexington Christian Academy because of its Christ-centered education. The ability to lead students in their walk with the Lord can only be found in a private school setting. I am honored to be given this opportunity.”


Anna Fields - Preschool Assistant

Education: Bachelor's in Biology from Gordon College; Associate's Degree in Nursing from St. Vincent's College; and Master's of Science in Nursing (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner) from Yale University

Previous Employment: From 2015-2020, I was blessed to work with children and their families as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at the University of Kentucky Children's Hospital with the Pediatric Palliative Care team. Prior to that, I worked for four years as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Norton Children's Hospital with the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology department. Since 2020, I have been a stay-at-home mom to our 3 kiddos (best job ever!!).

Hobbies: Watching, coaching, and playing sports with our kids!

Fun Facts: I love all things sports, music, and being outside.

Family: Philip (husband) and children Charlie (LCA 2nd Grade), Ellie (LCA Kindergarten), and Xander (LCA Preschool)

Cam Garner - Assistant Athletics Director

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Master’s Degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotion from the University of Kentucky 

Previous Employment: University of Kentucky Football Program (served as a graduate assistant football coach for four years)

Hobby: Golf 

Fun Fact: I was born and raised in Lexington.

Family: Abbey (wife) and son Bowen (six months)

“God blessed me and my family with the opportunity to stay involved in sports while also planting our roots in a Christian community. LCA will allow me the opportunity to give back to a community that gave me so much growing up here in Lexington. It also provides a great opportunity for my son and any other kids that may come along to be raised in a Christian school with Christ at the center of it all.”


Austin Hall - 7th Grade PE Teacher

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education from the University of the Cumberlands

Previous Employment: I was hired at LCA in the fall of 2023 as a long-term sub and was hired full-time in January 2024. 

Hobby: Playing any kind of sport (golf, tennis, basketball, etc.)

Fun Fact: I played college basketball at the University of the Cumberlands, and I just recently got married.

Crystal Hall - Asst. Director of Admissions (6th-12th)

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design from Morehead State University

Previous Employment: I’ve spent the last three years at LCA - two of those years supporting the elementary team as an administrative assistant and then moving over to the Admissions Office, where I’ve been the last year. Prior to LCA, I was a District Education Manager at Sephora.

Hobbies: Reading, hiking, and spending time with my family

Family: Dwayne Gilvin (husband) and daughter Halley Gilvin (LCA 8th Grade)

"One of the things I love most about LCA has been getting to know our students, their families and our faculty and staff. Those connections and relationships have had a huge impact on myself and my family. It’s been wonderful working at LCA and getting to see teachers and staff share God’s word and pour love into these students. There’s something that’s just so special about LCA, and I’m excited to continue to be a part of that and share our mission with potential new families."


Wynn Harris - high school history teacher

Education: BS in History/Secondary Education and 
MA in Instructional Leadership (Principalship)

Hobby: Coaching baseball

Fun Fact: I am an assistant baseball coach at Asbury University. I love traveling and exploring places with my family.

Emma Hill - 2nd Grade Teacher

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Child Development from Georgetown College; Currently pursuing a Master's in Georgetown College's Teacher Leader Program

Years of Experience: I will be a first year teacher!

Hobbies: Reading and playing tennis and spending time outdoors

Ashlyn Hise - 5th Grade Teacher

Education: Bachelor's Degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education from Greenville University

Previous Employment/Years of Experience: I have been teaching for six years at Vandalia Junior High School in Vandalia, Illinois. I have taught 5th grade all six years! Teaching 5th grade has been a joy, so I am excited to get to know the 5th grade students at LCA.

Hobbies: Cooking and baking

Fun Facts: I have been teaching dance classes since I was in high school. I drink iced coffee every day, even when it's cold outside!

Family: Alec (husband)

Church: My husband and I currently attend Hope Lutheran Church in Highland, IL, but we look forward to joining a church in Lexington!

Kathy Kelley - Elementary Office Assistant

Education: BS in Psychology and Sociology from Austin Peay State University and an MA in Special Education LBD from Murray State University

Years of Experience: 6 years in preschool; 13 years in special education; More than 12 years subbing in all areas. 

Hobbies: Reading, crafts, baking, and cooking

Fun Facts: I've lived longer in Kentucky than my home state of Pennsylvania. I have visited all 50 states. I love to bake and cook, especially for others who appreciate it!

Family: Children - Jinny, Kristin, and Will; Grandchildren - Tristin, Jackson, Aubrey, Parker, Drew, and Allison

Tonya May - 5th Grade Teacher

Education: Bachelor of Science Degree - Elementary Education - University of Pikeville; Master of Arts Degree - Elementary Education - Morehead State University; Master of Arts Degree - School Administration - Morehead State University; and Education Specialist Degree - Instructional Supervision - Morehead State University

Years of Experience: 24 years

Previous Employment: Pike County Schools - Taught in all grades, K-8; Kentucky Department of Education - Instructional Coach and Content Specialist; and Midway University - Adjunct Faculty Member

Hobbies: Sports, hiking, and anything active

Fun Facts: I love design. I'm a Kansas City Chiefs fan!

Taylor McClanahan - 4th Grade Teacher

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Kentucky and working on a Master's in Elementary Education from the University of the Cumberlands

Previous Employment: I was a substitute and extended care counselor for LCA last year and loved every second of it!

Hobbies: Exploring the Lord's beautiful creations while hiking or playing volleyball

Fun Fact: I'm engaged!

Ali Nyman - Part-Time High School Spanish Teacher

Education: Bachelor's Degree in International Economics and Spanish

Previous Employment: I've been an early intervention teacher and taught adult language learners. Most recently, I provided early intervention services to Spanish-speaking families at First Steps in Nashville, Tennessee.

Hobby: CrossFit

Fun Facts: I've been to the Galápagos Islands. I have an identical twin sister.

Family: Trevor (husband) and three children who will be entering 4th, 6th, and 10th grades at LCA

“I had an incredible high school Spanish teacher who inspired my love for the Spanish language and culture. I'm excited to have the opportunity to make learning a foreign language fun and engaging and to be able to do it in a Christian environment.”


Rex Payne - 8th Grade Health and PE Teacher

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Communications from the University of Kentucky and a Master's of Arts in Teaching from the University of the Cumberlands.

Previous Employment: I previously worked as a substitute teacher at both LCA and Morton Middle School for the last three years. I've also worked at the furniture store Paxton Home for the last two years.

Hobbies: Lifting weights and exercising

Fun Fact: Mr. Seamands once called me his "favorite student of all time".

Riley Perkins - 9th & 10th Grade Academic Counselor and AP World History Teacher

Education: Bachelor of Science in Education, Social Studies and a Master of Arts in Education, Teacher Leader from the University of the Cumberlands

Years of Experience: 11 years

Previous Employment: Somerset Christian School (2013-16) and LCA (2016-Present)

Hobbies: Spending time with family and watching sports

Family: Katelyn (wife) and daughters Audrey (LCA 2nd Grade) and AnnaBeth (LCA Preschool)

Michelle Reynolds - Elementary Intervention Coordinator

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s Degree in Teacher Leadership with an endorsement for Literacy Specialist from Georgetown College 

Years of Experience: 18 years

Previous Employment: I was an assistant preschool director for one year. This will be my 17th year teaching at LCA, where I have taught TK for two years, kindergarten for five years, and intervention for nine years.

Hobbies: During my downtime, I love doing art with my girls, going on walks, kayaking, and reading.

Fun Facts: Missions have always been a big part of my life. My family and I have been traveling to Jamaica every summer to do missions, since I was 12 years old. I was born in Mississippi, lived in Texas, and finally ended up in London, Kentucky.

Family: Brian (husband) and daughters Madison (LCA 6th Grade) and Savannah (LCA 1st Grade)

Jamie Risen - Annual Fund & Alumni Relations Manager

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the University of Kentucky and an MBA from Morehead State University

Previous Employment/Years of Experience: I worked at the University of Kentucky for 15 years in three different roles... 11 total years in UK Athletics working as a Media Relations Coordinator for six years, then the K Fund in a Development Assistant role for five years. Most recently, I worked as the Associate Director of Gift Receiving in the Office of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement at UK.

Hobbies: Spending time with family and attending whichever sports/extra-curricular activities our kids are participating in!

Fun Fact: I enjoy cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats and the Atlanta Braves.

Family: Alex (husband) and children Colin (LCA 2nd Grade) and Campbell (LCA TK)

Ginny Schreiner - 8th Grade U.S. History

Education: B.S. in Elementary Education with a 5th-9th Grades Social Studies Endorsement

Years of Experience: 19 years

Previous Employment: I've taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades at LCA as well as elementary physical education and art. 

Hobbies: Running, traveling, time with my family and their sports

Fun Fact: My family has visited the Galapagos Islands twice. 

Family: Dave (husband) and children Maddie, Bailey, and Lily, who all attend LCA

“LCA has been my home for many years. It is an amazing school to be a part of. I'm so thankful for the teachers and students. I have loved my time teaching at both campuses over the years, and I am very excited to be back at the Rose Campus teaching my favorite subject, U.S. History. LCA has been a wonderful home for our family for many years.”


Sarah Scott - Elementary Spanish Teacher

Education: B.A. in Early Elementary Education from Asbury College and M.A. Literacy Specialist from Asbury University

Years of Experience: 27 years

Previous Employment: I began my teaching experience in Fayette County Public Schools for four years as an A.B.E. Teacher and as Head Teacher in their Creative Activities Program after school. Then I taught 5th grade for LCA for three years before staying home once our children were born. I homeschooled our children for six years, from K-5th grade. I also subbed in Jessamine County Schools for one year, obtaining a long-term sub position while working on my Master's Degree. Then I returned to LCA in 2011, teaching preschool for four years. I transitioned to 5th grade when the position opened up and have been with this age for the past nine years. I am excited about this new challenge of using my Spanish from high school and college and working with K-5th students!

Hobbies: Taking walks, gardening, canning, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and studying God's Word

Fun Fact: I will become a grandma this school year! Our son Zach and his wife, Liz, are expecting their first baby!

Family: John (husband of 30 years) and children Brooke (2017 LCA graduate) and Zach (2019 LCA graduate. They are both married and working in ministry.

Church: First Alliance Church

“This will be my 17th year teaching at LCA. I love that Jesus is the focus, and He is invited into every part of our day. I am looking forward to this new season of teaching Spanish to my students, with the purpose of broadening our ability to communicate the love of Jesus with others and to pray for people in other countries to come to know Him.”


Amanda Shepherd - Part-Time Enrichment Interventionist

Education: Supervisor of Instruction Certificate, University of the Cumberlands; 
National Board Certification, Literacy: Reading-Language Arts/Early and Middle Childhood; Master's Degree in Elementary Education, Union College; and Bachelor's Degree P-5 Education, Union College

Years of Experience: 18 years

Previous Employment: KORE Academy (6 years) - Served as Director of Elementary Program, Intervention Specialist and Classroom Teacher; Harlan Independent Schools (11 years) Classroom teacher grades K-4th, Intervention Specialist- Reading Recovery

Hobbies: Reading, running, and spending time with my family

Fun Facts: I absolutely LOVE ice cream! Teaching is my passion! God has led me on some pretty incredible teaching journeys so far, and I am so thankful for this calling on my life!

Family: Scott (husband) and children, Brayden (13 years-6th grade at Edith J. Hayes Middle School) and Grace (LCA 1st Grade)

Megan Spotts - 3rd Grade Teacher

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky

Years of Experience: This will be my first year teaching!

Hobby: Reading 

Fun Facts: I can play two different instruments. I also have written a 400-page book. However, I have not published it yet.

“I went to Lexington Christian Academy and graduated in 2020. I am overjoyed to be able to come home and join the LCA family again. I love the Lord with all my heart, and I truly believe that this is the school where He wants me to teach. I am excited not only to teach students academically but also to help them grow spiritually in their faith.”


Melanie Steier - Team Lead and Asst. Director of Admissions (PS-5th)

Education: Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Kentucky

Previous Employment: Bluegrass Community & Technical College (six years as an admissions counselor); Starting my 8th year in the LCA Admissions Office, where I was an admissions coordinator prior to being named Team Lead and Asst. Director of Admissions (PS-5th). 

Hobbies: Shopping and reading

Fun Fact: I was in the UK Wildcat Marching Band in college for 5 years.

Family: Jacob (husband) and sons Logan (LCA 8th Grade) and Parker (LCA 4th Grade)

Brittany Thomas - Preschool Assistant

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Science from Alice Lloyd College and Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Kentucky

Previous Employment: Last year I worked with the 2 year old classes at Good Shepherd Day School. It was a wonderful experience that really ignited my passion for preschool education.

Hobbies: Reading and traveling with my family

Fun Facts: I was an ICU nurse for 10 years before deciding to stay home with my children for a few years then venture into education. I still have my nursing license.

Casey Walker - Elementary Enrichment Math Teacher

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Arts and Sciences from the University of Kentucky and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M

Years of Experience: 3 years

Previous Employment: After receiving my Master's, I taught at Hempstead High School, about a 30 minute commute from College Station, which is where I was living at the time. I taught 12th grade Economics/Government and 9th grade World History.

I moved back home to Lexington, where I taught at Tates Creek Middle School. I taught 6th grade and 8th grade social studies, then taught in the Gifted-Talented program before I had my son and decided to stay home.

Hobbies: I love working out, being with family and friends, and being at the baseball field or in the stands watching my kids play sports.

Family: Chris (husband) and children Colt (LCA 6th Grade), Eli (LCA 3rd Grade), Grace (LCA 1st Grade), and Luke (LCA Preschool)

Tina Ward - 4th Grade Teacher

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee

Years of Experience: 6 years of full-time teaching experience in 4th grade and five years as a substitute

Previous Employment: I taught 4th grade for six years at Bells Elementary School in Bells, Tennessee. I have spent the last five years as a substitute at Sandersville Elementary.

Hobby: My favorite hobby is watching my children play sports. We spend many nights at the ballpark or on the basketball court.

Fun Facts: I was born and grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. I also love to travel and experience new people and places.

Family: Scott (husband) and son Hayden (LCA 8th Grade) and daughter Elayna (11th grader at Bryan Station High School)
