Students Volunteer to Help Kentucky Flood Victims

High school students in the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy held a clothing drive for those affected by the devastating flooding in eastern Kentucky. These students sorted the clothes and then along with Mrs. Lauren Jarvis and Mr. Keith Galloway from LCA and Dave Hall from Chick-fil-A, helped count and rebox and rebag items. Mr. Galloway then delivered the goods to the Red Bird Mission Community Mission Center.

Students, along with LCA parent and staff chaperones, also spent Saturday, April 17 in Rockcastle County with fellow volunteers from the Christian Appalachian Project. One group of students and chaperones replaced insulation and drywall for a home and another group helped restore a home from flood damage.

"It was an excellent experience, and our students did a terrific job praying, serving and displaying joyful attitudes throughout the day," said Mr. Galloway, LCA Assistant High School Principal, who served as one of the chaperones.

Student volunteers included: Cade Smith; Logan Martin; Leo Fults; Cameron Bassel; Colby Bruner; Lilliam Samford; Tia Alchureiqi; Emilie Von Hagel; Lily Hutchinson; Reagan Wertzler; Logan Bryant; Jordan Cook; and Andrew Schwartz

Chaperones included: Keith Galloway (LCA High School Asst. Principal); Melissa Bruner (LCA Parent); Rex Graham (LCA Parent); and Lori Benson (LCA Rose Campus Media Center Specialist)
