Mrs. Pettigrew - New PS-Elementary Asst. Principal

It is with great pleasure and excitement that LCA announces that Mrs. Melinda Pettigrew is our new Preschool-Elementary Assistant Principal. We are extremely blessed to have Mrs. Pettigrew join our leadership team. She has been part of our LCA family since 2012 as a parent, and then, as a teacher. Both of her children are LCA graduates (Carter in 2016 and Callie in 2018). She has been married to Bryan for 27 years. He is the Tournament Director for the Barbasol Championship and is the National Sales Director for Global Golf Management. Both of them are very active in the Lexington community.

Mrs. Pettigrew received a Bachelor's Degree in elementary education in 1992 from Oklahoma State University, and she earned a Master’s in education from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1993. Seven years ago, she started at LCA teaching 3rd grade and is currently one of our 5th grade teachers. She has been a member of various committees during her time at LCA and serves as the 4th-5th grade team lead.

"Mrs. Pettigrew embodies all that is required to fulfill the role and responsibilities of an assistant principal. She has been living out LCA’s mission faithfully during her time here. Her deep love for our school community and rich understanding of our culture are added blessings that will enable her to serve successfully in this new position," said Mrs. Terri White, LCA Preschool-Elementary Principal.

Mrs. Stella Kyle will join LCA on October 18th to assume Mrs. Pettigrew’s position. She is a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University with a Bachelor's Degree in elementary education. Mrs. Kyle is married to Neil, who is a Master of Divinity student at Asbury Theological Seminary. They are both from Nashville, Tennessee and moved to Lexington in July of 2020, so that Neil could attend Asbury. They currently attend and serve at Lafayette Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Kyle enjoys hiking, cooking, drinking coffee and loves her dog, Lucy.

As for the transition process, Mrs. Pettigrew and Mrs. Kyle will work side-by-side for a month co-teaching. After that, Mrs. Pettigrew will make daily check-ins, take part in the organization of entrepreneur fair, and have an active role in the 5th Grade Day of Celebration. The entire 5th Grade team of teachers will continue to support each other as they plan lessons, field trips, and many more activities.

One of the greatest blessings to Mrs. Pettigrew’s new position is that it allows her to still be present on our campus while guiding her students through this transition. We are excited for these new opportunities for both and ask that you pray for Mrs. Pettigrew as she assumes the role of Assistant Principal and for Mrs. Kyle as she begins to nurture and equip students to finish their 5th grade year strong.
