Elementary Students Present Virtual Christmas Program

LCA Elementary Music Teacher, Mrs. Arianne Johnson, was determined that COVID-19 would not stop the students at our Immanuel Campus from having its annual Christmas program--even if it had to be a virtual one. Mrs. Jonson describes below how she put together this year's program:

“Christmas is my passion. I love the sights, smells and the sounds of Christmas. I especially love listening to the children sing and their little voices praising and worshiping. I knew this year was going to be different, way different, and I wanted to get my wheels turning early.  In September, I approached Mrs. White (LCA Elementary Principal) and asked if I could possibly have a virtual program this year.  I couldn’t bear the thought of not having one at all. She said if I could make it happen, then go for it. 

"I searched for a program that would be great for this season that we are in. So many of us have been drained of our joy, so I knew that was what I wanted to feature in the program - JOY! So I set to work. I uploaded the songs to an online drive and had the directions typed up for the parents to help the children.  Basically they were to listen and practice at home, since we couldn’t sing in school, and then record it. When recording they were to use one device with headphones and listen and sing along to the recording that I sent while their parents were to use a separate device and record only their voices in a video. The parents then uploaded them to Dropbox. The parents were totally amazing, and I could've never done this without them. From Dropbox, I imported them into and audio and video mixing program.  It takes a little time to line up each voice to the track and put all the videos on the screen.  It was such a blessing to be able to hear their voices singing all together."
