Fundraising Committee
When planning a fundraiser, the first step an organization must make is to submit its request to the Fundraising Committee.
The Fundraising Committee consists of the three Principals from each division, the Athletic Director, the Development office, and the Spiritual Life Directors.
The significance of this committee is two-fold.
- Each member of the committee is an employee of the school hired to protect the mission and vision of the organization. It is the fundraising committee’s responsibility to ensure each club and athletic team aligns with the mission and communication is funneled through one group.
- Second, the committee exists to protect the 501c3 status of the school to ensure we are compliant
with all local, state, and KHSAA regulations.
Inquiry of all fundraising initiatives are vetted through this committee. Parents are involved through initiating the ask through a club or an athletic team. During the vetting process, if any questions arise, the committee seeks information from the original inquiry.
STEPS TO TAKE:
1.) Complete the Fundraising Request Form below.
2.) The Fundraising Committee will review each submission. Email jrisen@lexingtonchristian.org with any questions. (Do not begin the fundraising initiative until you receive approval from the Committee).
3.) If approved, proceed with the fundraiser.
FUNDRAISER OR OUTREACH
What is the difference between an LCA fundraiser and outreach/service program?
FUNDRAISER
Is the act of seeking financial resources to support the mission of the school and its programs.
Approved fundraising activities include general donations, business partnerships, stocks & equity, and company match donations. These funds are donated directly to the school. LCA will provide the applicable tax related documentation for these donations.
Examples of LCA fundraisers include:
1.) Eagle Gala for the Annual Fund
2.)LCA Baseball Team's “Parent's Night Out” Event
OUTREACH OR SERVICE
Is the act of providing goods, services and/or financial support to an organization outside of LCA.
At LCA, we support our communities by donating goods and services to those in need. In some instances, money, in addition to goods and services, may be donated to the external organization. The financial donations should go directly to the organization, not LCA. All tax related documentation for outreach/mission donations will be issued from the external organization, not LCA.
Examples of LCA Outreach programs include:
1.) Water and food donations to Christian Appalachian Project
2.) Monetary donations to Dance Blue Network for Good Fund
METHODS TO FUNDRAISE
- One Fundraiser (Requests to fundraise must first be sent to and approved by the Fundraising
Committee) per Semester - LCA-sanctioned Tournament or Event per Semester
OTHER APPROVED METHODS TO SUPPORT THE SCHOOL OR PROGRAMS INCLUDE:
- Spirit Apparel - Spirit apparel must be coordinated through the Wings Store.
- Banners - Athletic venue banners can be sold in order to support the student-athlete and applicable sports program. Student-athletes must coordinate with the Development office BEFORE approaching potential banner sponsors.
- Camps - Sports teams and/or fine arts programs can host skills camps to raise money to support their programs. To learn more, contact the Athletics Department or Fine Arts Chair.
- Concessions - Athletic and/or fine arts programs can offer concessions at their events with the the net proceeds being donated back to their programs.
Capital projects and/or fundraisers not included in the above-mentioned list must be reviewed and approved by the Development Office and Athletics Office prior to proceeding. (A capital project includes the renovation, expansion, or addition to the school's facilities or property.)
