Lexington Christian Academy’s Preschool and Elementary are excited to announce this year’s foreign missions service project. LCA will be partnering with Immanuel Baptist Church and Soles for Jesus to collect shoes that will be given to people in Africa who need them. Not only will people be given shoes, but most importantly they will have the Gospel shared with them!
On Friday, May 7th, LCA’s Immanuel campus will conduct a shoe drive to collect new and used shoes during morning carline in each of our four carline lanes and our preschool drop off parking lot. There will be bins set up along the carlines to collect the shoes, so your child can just drop off shoes as they are getting out of the car! The shoes can be any size and any style, and your child can bring as many pairs as they want. So, check your closets to see if there are shoes you do not wear anymore that you would like to donate!
Friday, May 7th will be a silly sock/mismatch shoe day for Preschool and Elementary to remind everyone to bring in shoes that day to donate! Other than the silly socks/mismatch shoes, Friday, May 7th will be normal uniform or spirit wear. If our preschool and elementary students, families, faculty, and staff collect 1,000 pairs of shoes or more, then on Monday, May 10th the LCA Immanuel campus will get a dress down day!
Soles for Jesus is a non-profit organization based in Wisconsin that ships and personally hand delivers donated shoes to impoverished people in Africa. Since 2010, SFJ has delivered 570,000 shoes and the Gospel to people in Africa who are in need. To learn more about Soles for Jesus, click here.
