Leading the Way in School Spirit
October 24, 2025 — A group of students glowing with school spirit saw something they wanted to pursue—and they made it happen.
For the first time ever, LCA Junior High students had the chance to celebrate their teams at their very own pep rally. The young Eagles brought energy, laughter, and school spirit, but it all started with a group of students who noticed something was missing. Thanks to the efforts of Carrington Sherrard, Drew Williams, Heidi Webb, London Sherrard, Ellie Raynes, and Madden Dawahare, the Junior High Pep Rally became a reality.
“Planning the pep rally was a big deal. It’s our first-ever junior high pep rally, so we were very excited for this day. We’ve been waiting for it for a long time. The planning process meant going home after a long day of school and continuing to work—but it was all worth it in the end,” Carrington said.
Carrington, an 8th-grade student, is president of the planning committee, joined by fellow 8th-grader Drew Williams, the vice president. Through their combined efforts, Drew said he’s gained valuable life skills from the experience.
“I learned a lot about time management. I’ve had to balance sports and also plan these events and everything we’ve been doing lately. I’ve also learned about teamwork,” Drew said.
Mr. Eric Wess, who teaches 7th-grade geography and sponsors the Junior High Pep Club, had the chance to watch the students take full ownership of something they were passionate about.
“It’s been inspiring to see our students take ownership of building school spirit and community here at LCA. They’ve led with enthusiasm, creativity, and genuine pride in their school. I’m excited to see how they’ll continue to build on the momentum and keep finding new ways to bring our students together,” Eric said.
The rally came together with the Junior High teams being recognized. Drew and Carrington agree that LCA is providing countless opportunities to learn valuable life skills as image bearers of God.
“I’m beyond grateful. It’s not every day you get to come here and have a random pep rally representing your sport,” Drew said.
“I’m thankful to be at LCA, to be able to make it my home. Being able to lead is an opportunity I’m grateful for,” Carrington added.
