Jul 30th-The start of school is right around the corner for students all over the nation. Some don't have the supplies they need, but that's where LCA's 2025 State Championship football team comes in.

Before thousands of local students receive free backpacks and school supplies during the YMCA of Central Kentucky's annual Back-to-School Rallies volunteers from across the community will gather to help make it all possible. Some of those volunteers included several of LCA's Football team. Erin Andrews with The YMCA of Central Kentucky said their hustle and dedication to a job well done helped them make quick work of the thousands of supplies.

"It often takes multiple days to do the stuffing. When the LCA Football team shows up, they knock it out and help me move all the heavy stuff," Erin said.

Rising sophomore Allen Cox and rising senior David Hood day the unique opportunity to serve is one of the many reasons they love LCA.

"It's really a blessing to be able to serve and not take anything as a reward. Just do it all for Jesus," Allen said.

"I came here my sophomore year of high school, and it's a big difference from any other school you'd go to. Christ is the center, the middle C we always talk about. That's why we show our faith on the field and off the field," Davin added.

LCA Board Chair Brett Setzer helped organize the partnership, a tradition that has been going on for years now.

"Our families started about 10 years ago, sponsoring the back-to-school backpack program. We donated, and after about two years, we said let's go pack these backpacks and not just be monetarily involved, but also physically involved," Brett said.

Since then, Brett says LCA has played a vital role in this cause.

"About 5 years ago, we had the LCA Volleyball team, and now the LCA Football Team has been involved for the last 3 or 4 years. It's a great thing to do for the community and the kids,".

The supplies will be distributed to students during the YMCA's Back-to-School Rallies on Saturday,
Aug. 1, across Fayette and Franklin Counties, as well as during Nicholasville's National
Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
