Girls Soccer Head Coach
The Head Coach will manage, assist, and support all phases of the Girls Soccer Program. The Head Coach also manages and provides oversight to all aspects of preparation for the team/student athlete to compete at the high school level. In addition, the Head Coach develops and implements a feeder program plan to ensure an atmosphere where players are valued and provided with opportunities to be successful at the highest levels.
Essential Functions and Basic duties
Program and Team Leadership
The Head Coach is responsible for the oversight of every aspect of his/her program. This includes, but is not limited to, student-athlete eligibility and participation, practices, season and post-season schedules, financial management in conjunction with the athletic department, fundraising, staff training, player conditioning and safety, and compliance with LCA and KHSAA policies, rules and regulations. The Head Coach is responsible to communicate to all Assistant and Volunteer Coaches all expectations regarding the mission and core values of Lexington Christian Academy’s Athletic program and will communicate the standards set forth in school policy, Coach’s Conduct. The Head Coach is responsible to submit to the Athletic Director for approval written criteria for obtaining an Athletic letter in their sport. The Head Coach is required to review annually and sign off on the Emergency Action Plan.
Budget Development and Management:
The Head Coach is responsible for the management of the program’s overall budget in conjunction with the athletic department. This includes, adhering to proper purchase order procedures, and maintaining a proper internal financial control environment.
Program and Parent Communication:
The Head Coach is responsible for all program-related communication. This includes, but is not limited to, pre-season and post-season parent meetings and banquet/awards events, responding to parents, student-athletes, administration, and staff in a timely manner, administer pre-season and post-season expectations for coaches and players, post-season player and coach evaluations, and program public relations.
Fields, Facilities, and Inventory:
The Head Coach establishes field and/or facility expectations and communicates these expectations to the Athletic Director. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the Head Coach to ensure that expectations are met. The Head Coach also conducts a yearly equipment inventory and is responsible for ensuring the setup, breakdown, cleanup, close-down, and security of fields and facilities after all athletic games, and athletic rental events. The Head Coach is responsible for maintaining and storing equipment/supplies in a safe and efficient manner.
The Head Coach works closely with the athletics financial manager and athletic director on his/her respective booster account funds and expenditures to enhance the student-athlete’s overall experience. The Head Coach ensures a positive booster club experience by serving as the facilitator between the school’s administration and volunteer parents accurately communicating all applicable school policies and procedures as indicated.
College Degree Preferred
• Substantial knowledge of the tactical and technical aspects of the sport and at the same time must continue to develop professionally as it relates to coaching philosophy, strategy, and training
• Minimum KHSAA/LCA requirements
• Strong organization, communication, and leadership skills
• CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
• Basic computer skills, including word processing, e-mail, web-page understanding
