Lexington Christian Academy's theater program is designed to allow students to use their God given talents to glorify God through the performing arts. The LCA theatre program is a comprehensive program offering theatre opportunities from elementary through high school.
Each fall, the fine arts program presents a “Cabaret.” Students will showcase their singing, dancing, and acting talents through a themed program. Previous shows include “Songs from Disney,” and “Decades.” This year, our students will present songs and dances from the movies.
Over the years, intermediate students, grades 4-6, have shared their gifts in a drama. Previous shows include “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” and “Alice in Wonderland.” This year, our intermediate students will present “Peter Pan.”
Each spring, LCA students will present a musical or drama. Over the years, LCA students have entertained their audiences with performances of “Music Man,” “Wizard of Oz,” “Cinderella,” “Shrek,” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
In addition to the drama and musical performances, high school students can select “Drama” as an elective. This course will emphasize communication and writing skills through drama. Course content will include theater history, acting techniques, improvisational skills and performance poise. Students will be expected to perform individually and in groups, and will be acting in scenes that are prewritten works as well as those they create themselves.
